A jihadist bride who gave birth to a son under ISIS in Syria has returned to the UK with her child in the first known case of its kind.
The 27-year-old British Muslima jihadist was arrested at Heathrow airport under terrorism laws, while the boy, who is aged under two and whose nationality is unclear, has been taken into care.
The female terrorist flew into the UK from Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital, nine days ago, in an apparent attempt to cover her tracks.
However, officers from Scotland Yard’s counter-terrorism unit were waiting when she landed. She was released on bail while police inquiries continue.
MI5 has previously said around 850 Muslim terrorists from Britain travelled to the Middle East as ISIS took control of pockets of Syria and Iraq.
And as the terror group is flushed out of its former strongholds, many of its terrorists with British passports are returning home with their families. 
Last year, ministers stripped more than 150 jihadists of their citizenship and banned them from Britain, as intelligence chiefs warned they may return from war-torn Syria and unleash a new wave of attacks.
Many of those returning were trained in the use of explosives and firearms as they took part in ISIS’s bloody rampage.
