Israeli drone crashes in Lebanon due to technical malfunction

An Israel Air Force drone crashed overnight between Friday and Saturday in an open area in southern Lebanon as a result of a technical malfunction, the IDF said.

“The incident is currently being reviewed. There is no risk of leaked information,” the IDF Spokesman’s Office said.

Hezbollah’s al-Manar TV station reported the drone crash and posted photos from the crash site.

 

“An unmanned Israeli spy plane crashes between the villages of Beit Yahoun and Baraachit,” al-Manar reported.

Other media in Lebanon reported that Lebanese engineering forces closed off the area and were searching for all remnants of the crashed drone.

The IAF drone was on an intelligence-gathering mission in southern Lebanon as part of routine operations, which also included an increased activity of IAF fighter jets in northern Israel.

 

4 Muslim terrorists arrested in IDF raid as manhunt continues for terror cell leader behind Rabbi Shevah murder

IDF forces raided a house in Burqin, on the outskirts of Jenin, on Saturday morning in search of the Muslim terrorist Ahmad Nassr Jarrar, who headed the terror cell that murdered Rabbi Raziel Shevah near Havat Gilad some three weeks ago.

Arabs reported heavy IDF presence and said soldiers, using loudspeakers, called for the surrender of Ahmad Nassar Jarrar, the leader of the terror cell that shot and murdered 35-year-old father of six Rabbi Raziel Shevach on January 9, as he drove on a highway near his home in Havat Gilad.

In addition to encircling the house in Burqin, the forces blocked accessways to two nearby villages, leading to clashes between Palestinians and security forces.

According to Arab sources, four terrorists were arrested during the raid on Burqin, two of them members of the Jarrar clan of Muslim terrorists.

After leaving Burqin, the Israeli forces moved to the nearby the Arab village, where they also encircled a house, but left after having questioned the residents.

Rabbi Raziel Shevah was murdered in early January in a drive-by shooting terror attack near Havat Gilad, where he resided.

After the murder, IDF troops spent over 12 hours in Jenin in search of Jarrar. During operations in the city, two fighters from the Border Police’s counter-terrorism unit Yamam were wounded in a firefight that resulted in the elimination of another terrorist, Ahmad Ismail Jarrar, who it was later transpired was not the head of the terror cell.

Another terrorist was arrested, and several additional terrorists were detained for questioning. Initial interrogation already pointed to ideological affiliation of the cell’s members to Hamas.

During the raid, Israeli security forces demolished the cell leader’s home as well as an adjacent home that belonged to his uncle. A third house was reportedly demolished, while a fourth was damaged, both belonging to the extended Jarrar family.

After initially believing the cell leader was killed in the house demolition and buried under the rubble, the IDF revised its conclusions after the Arabs did not find a body inside the building.

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said that the terrorist responsible for Rabbi Raziel Shevah’s murder “should know he is currently living the life of a fleeing dog. He is living on borrowed time.”

Over the past two weeks, Israeli security forces continued carrying out covert and overt operations to locate the terrorist, which included searching through homes and detaining terrorists with ties to him for questioning.

PLO terror group call for suspension of recognition of Israel 25 years after first Oslo Accords

Arab leaders in the PLO terror group Central Council voted on Monday for the suspension of recognition of Israel and call for terrorism against Israel “in all forms”, 25 years after the signing of the first Oslo Accords, which established the PA on the basis of mutual recognition.

While withdrawing the Palestine Liberation Organization’s recognition of Israel could spark international backlash, it was unclear whether the vote was binding.

A previous vote by the same terror group Central Council, a high-ranking arm of the PLO terror group, in 2015 to suspend security coordination with Israel was never implemented. That vote was also reaffirmed on Monday.

However, even if the move goes no further, the vote was another expression of Arab fury, this time over President Trump’s Jerusalem declaration.

On Sunday as he opened the meeting, Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas, who voted in favor of the suspension, lashed out at President Trump over recent policy moves.

Abbas, who is just completing the 13th year of his 4-year term, said to Trump: “Yehreb Beitak,” which literally translates as “may your house be destroyed.”

The PLO is considered the official representative of the Palestinian Authority internationally and formalized its recognition of Israel in 1993.

In a statement, the terror group delegates also backed comments on Sunday by Abbas that the Oslo peace accords of the early 1990s, which form the basis of the Palestinians’ relations with Israel, were “finished.”

There was no immediate Israeli reaction to the vote, but earlier Monday Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Abbas’ comments had “torn off” his “mask” as a supposed moderate.

Hamas, the Islamist terror group that runs Gaza and does not recognize Israel, appeared to welcome the vote but said in a statement that the “real test” would be “to implement it effectively on the ground and put in place the necessary mechanisms.”
