IDF forces are continuing Tuesday efforts to locate Abed al-Karim Adel Assi, the Muslim terrorist who murdered Rabbi Itamar Ben-Gal Monday at Ariel Junction.
Israeli forces are cornering a Shechem house, Arab sources reported, and riots subsequently broke out in the vicinity, with Muslim terrorists attempting to sabotage the counter-terrorism operation.
According to Arab reports, 2 terrorists were seriously wounded, 17 terrorists lightly injured by rubber bullets and 40 terrorists injured by tear gas. Unconfirmed reports of a Muslim terrorist eliminated during the violent riots.
Muslim terrorist Abed al-Karim Adel Assi, 19, an Arab Israeli with an Israeli citizenship, is the son of an Israeli mother and a Palestinian Authority resident from Shechem. He resided in Yaffo, was abandoned by his parents, became addicted to drugs, and spent the last few years living on the street and in different homeless shelters for youth. He also often went to visit his father in Shechem.
His mother, a Haifa resident in her forties, called on Assi to turn himself in: “My son has no right to hurt anyone. I condemn what he did, and I call on him to turn himself in, because what he did will not help anyone. On the contrary, he ruined himself and he ruined everything.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu vowed that the terrorist from the Ariel stabbing attack would be brought to justice.
“I promised to the widow of Rabbi Raziel Shevach,” continued Netanyahu, referring to the 32-year-old Havat Gilad resident gunned down by Muslim terrorists last month, “that we would settle the score with his murderer. I congratulate the Shin Bet, the Yamam and the IDF who did exactly that.”
Hundreds of family members, friends and supporters, gathered at the Jewish community of Har Braha to accompany Rabbi Itamar Ben-Gal, a teacher and a father of four, who was murdered by a Muslim terrorist in Ariel the previous day, to his final resting place.
