Nigeria: Boko Haram suicide bomber murders 11 in mosque during dawn prayers

Residents say a Muslim suicide bomber entered a mosque in a northern Nigerian town and detonated his explosives, killing at least 11 people during early morning prayers.

The Borno state government on Tuesday tightened a curfew and increased security checks around its capital, Maiduguri, after a resurgence of violence in the city where Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram was formed.

The attack has the signs of the Boko Haram terror group, which frequently uses suicide bombers, mostly females, to attack crowded public places such as mosques and markets.

However, no terror group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Boko Haram’s eight-year of terrorism has killed tens of thousands of people.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari in his New Year’s address again claimed that Boko Haram had been largely defeated.
